The goal of the study course is to contribute to the students' knowledge of the history of the Holocaust and related processes of memory and culture in Latvia. The tasks of the study course: to introduce students with a history of the Holocaust in Latvia. During lectures and seminars, the significance of media representation in creating the Holocaust as an important and meaningful discourse and a moral lesson is studied. Using the example of the Holocaust, the interaction between social memory, contemporary communication, and culture, as well as the viability of global discourse in the national memory space is viewed theoretically. Differences in the knowledge and interpretations of the Holocaust under different regimes and time periods are analyzed. Key topics and basic terminology of the Holocaust research is introduced.
