The goal of the online course is to identify the ethical, educational, societal, legal, global, and scientific foundations related to children's rights and participation.

Upon completion of the course the student is able to:
- recognize the ethical, educational, societal, legal, global and scientific aspects of children's rights and participation
- examine children's rights and participation using scientific theories and concepts
- study current research on children's rights and participation
- consider the complexity of determining the best interest of the child
